The Deacon Charitable Foundation, is pleased to announce that Veronica Wences is now the Executive Director of the Deacon Charitable Foundation. Wences has succeeded Julie Earnest, the Foundation’s Executive Director since 2014. Wences and Earnest have spent the past year training and transitioning the Executive Director role.
Wences has been an active member or leader of our Irvine Giving Committee since the Foundation was formed in 2006. She was named a Deacon Community Go-Giver in 2017 for her commitment to supporting her community through her devotion to local charities and to participation in charitable events.
“I feel delighted to work for a company with a charitable heart. While serving on the Deacon Charitable Committee for the past 16 years, I have come across many amazing charitable organizations that benefit our communities. I feel honored to be part of the process that supports these nonprofits. As I walk into this new role as Executive Director, I will continue to honor the Mission of the Deacon Charitable Foundation and empower Deacon employees to support their communities in whatever manner they can,” said Veronica Wences.
“I’ve enjoyed working with Veronica closely for the past year and for the seven years prior. She has an incredible heart for our communities and will be an amazing leader for our Foundation,” said Julie Earnest.
Wences first joined Deacon Construction in 2005 in our Irvine office and has held positions in operations, safety and IT. Wences takes over the Executive Director responsibilities effective immediately.
