The Deacon Charitable Foundation was started in 2006 by S.D. Deacon Corp., a general contractor with offices in Washington, Oregon and California.
S.D. Deacon funds the Foundation with profits from its operations, because it is part of their corporate mission to “Support Our Communities.”
The employees of S.D. Deacon determine where the Foundation will focus its support. The Foundation mission statement reflects their wishes.
Five employees of S.D. Deacon make up the Foundation Board of Directors. An executive director administers the daily operations. Charitable Giving Committees in each of the company's four offices identify organizations to support and award grants.
